Plymouth's History

Plymouth was established by the Susquehanna Company and was actually claimed by the state of Connecticut at first. During the 1770s, the two states argued over which controlled the land and the five townships situated on it. Finally, in 1782, a trial was held, and Pennsylvania was given control of the land owned by the Susquehanna Company. This included Plymouth, Wilkes-Barre, Nanticoke, and Pittston.
